Missions Opportunities Available at MTI

Positions available: Immediately

Field of Service: The MTI office is located in Colorado Springs. Conferences are held primarily in East-Central Europe and Asia. Staff may travel with MTI to conferences, but generally are not required to do so.

Duration of service: At least one year; preferably two or more years. Preference will be given to applicants making a longer commitment. Shorter term service on a project basis is sometimes possible. In special circumstances part-time service over a longer period may be available.

Support required: Approximately $1,040 per month to supplement a guaranteed full-time salary of $12,500/year, if a total salary of about $25,000/year is desired. Missionaries raise support to supplement the monthly $1,040 honorarium provided by MTI. Missionaries may raise more or less than the recommended monthly amount, if they wish.

Sending agency: Missionaries may select a sending agency which is willing to second them to MTI or they may channel tax-deductible donations through MTI.

Assistant to the President

SUMMARY: The assistant to the president has a multi-faceted job with a variety of responsibilities. There is opportunity for some international travel.

Tasks include:
• Helping to organize conferences worldwide, processing registrations, managing conference records, and corresponding with publishers and trainers.
• Managing databases.
• Desktop publishing on manuals to accompany courses and other resource materials for distribution to publishers.
• Preparing and mailing announcements, application forms, and resource materials ordered by publishers.
• Managing the conference office on-site wherever conferences take place.
• Maintaining and updating the MTI Web site.

Skills required:
Broad experience in working with a variety of software. We will train in the particular software we use, but the applicant should have plenty of experience in working with various software. He or she should have good organizational skills and the ability to keep track of a large number of simultaneously ongoing projects.

Experience required:
Preferably at least a few years of experience working in an office environment.

WRITER/EDITOR

SUMMARY: The writer/editor helps to develop communication strategies and maintain communication with MTI constituents, including magazine publishers, trainers, donors, advisors, news organizations, and others.

Tasks include:
• Assisting with conference organization and curriculum development.
• Originating brochures and other materials promoting conferences and the MTI program to the varied constituencies.
• Writing news releases.
• Writing foundation proposals and other grant requests.
• Editing an e-mail newsletter.
• Helping to develop a new promotional video and other promotional materials, including traveling display materials which missionary candidates can use in developing support.
• Taking part in consulting sessions with magazines in Eastern Europe and elsewhere.
• Possibly teaching sessions related to own areas of expertise, when this fits into conference themes.
• Helping to analyze needs of Christian magazine publishers and develop print, audio, and video resources to meet the needs.

Necessary skills: Strong writing and editing skills. Self-starter. Ability to communicate a vision; stickler for accuracy and truth.

Experience required: Professional writing experience and preferably journalism training, (significant education and experience is required in order to be involved in curriculum development and writer training). Preferably experience in public relations, though this in not essential.
